Most Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please email us at info@broomfieldcoffee.co.uk

How can I brew my Coffee?
All our subscription plans give you the opportunity to tailor your order to your preferred brewing method. We offer a whole bean option so you can grind your own coffee or you can opt for pre-ground coffee. Choose fine for espresso, medium for filter and course for cafetiere. With this level of choice, you can brew your coffee in the way it suits you best.

When was your coffee roasted?
We roast Monday to Friday each week. The coffee you receive will usually have been roasted a few days before being dispatched.

Can you grind the coffee?
Yes, we are happy to grind your coffee based on your preferred brew method (E.g. Espresso, Filter, Chemex etc). Simply use the Grind drop-down field when purchasing your Broomfield Coffee.

Can I get the coffee ground differently from the options you have?
Yes, we are happy to grind it differently for you, but you’ll need to contact us directly. Please note that it is always difficult to get the perfect grind for espresso, but we’ll do our very best.

Why do your coffees always change?
Yes, coffee is a seasonal product with one/two crops a year depending on the country. We buy small amounts from many farms in each country, so when one coffee runs out, we would go to the next one. In some places the farms are extremely small, and these coffees tend to change more frequently.

How should I store the coffee?
We recommend keeping the coffee in the bag that it comes or an airtight container. For the best flavour, store in a cool, dry place away from heat and light.

How long does the coffee keep for?
We recommend using the coffee as soon as you can to get the most flavour from it, especially if it is ground. Coffee in an unopened Broomfield bag will stay fresh for several months.

How much coffee should I use for my brew method?
This varies depending on your brew method. There is a lot of information available online on how best to make coffee in a variety of different brew methods. We recommend you try for yourself and come up with an amount that you enjoy. Broomfield recommends 24g for a filter coffee and between 18 and 22g for Espresso/Latte’s/Flat Whites.

Which is your most popular coffee?
All of them are extremely popular however each coffee has a distinct flavour profile. Please see the tasting notes for each coffee to get an idea of what they are like.

Is your coffee Arabica?
Yes majority of our coffee is Arabica however we do have a few Robusta options for those of you that want an extra kick in your coffee.

Is your coffee ethically sourced?
Yes the ethics of Broomfield coffee is extremely important to us in terms of quality and sustainability.

I am buying coffee as a gift, which grind should I choose?
We recommend you find out what kind of brew method the person uses and ground the coffee to the respective brew method. Unfortunately there is not a generic grind that can be used for all methods.

Can coffee filter papers be composted?
