Black Forest gateau, reimagined as a cup of coffee. Vibrant, complex, and grown by the women changing coffee for the better. This lot comes from Café Femenino, a movement founded in Peru in 2004 by women coffee producers building a fairer trading platform for themselves. What started small now spans nine countries and thousands of women growers worldwide, and we're proud to play a part in it. Ours is grown by around 800 women across six associations in the CECANOR Co-Operative, using an unusually wide mix of varietals, from Bourbon and Catuai to the rare Villa Sarchi, a natural mutation of Bourbon that thrives at altitude and in the shade.

Most coffees are labelled as espresso or filter. We see things differently. Every coffee has its own personality, so we roast each one to bring out its unique flavour, sweetness and character, rather than making it fit a brewing method.

Coffee connects people across the world, from the farms it’s grown on to the cups it’s served in. We take that seriously. That’s why we work with Fair Trade and Soil Association Organic certified growers, roast responsibly on solar-powered energy, and pay every member of our team a fair, Living Wage.
